Welcome to the North Texas Renewable Energy Group
NTREG - Special Information for North Texas
In 2014, members of the North Texas Renewable Energy Group began a self-motivated effort to compile data about solar energy systems in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex and throughout North Texas. At first, this project was to be a local and regional information resource to answer the question "How many solar electric systems are there in this area?". The effort was initiated by NTREG member Jay Squyres. Very quickly, other members joined in, and the effort became a team project involving many people, still spearheaded by Jay. In early 2015, the research results were compiled into a White Paper intended for use by the public. A copy was submitted to the American Solar Energy Society for consideration of presentation at the ASES National Conference held at Penn State University. To our extreme surprise and pride, the research paper was one of the very few accepted for presentation at the conference! Lucy Stolzenburg, [then] Executive Director of the Texas Solar Energy Society, was selected to present the research at the ASES National Conference. We acknowledge contributions by Jay Squyres, Stephen Blackburn, Stephanie Byrd, Lissa Magel, James Orenstein, and other NTREG volunteers for countless hours compiling the data in this report.
NTREG is pleased to provide the White Paper report here in two parts for public download. The White Paper embodies the full detail of the report. The Appendix provides a listing of every photovoltaic system in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex and North Texas as of the date of the report. No personally identifiable information is provided to protect the privacy of the owners of the respective systems listed herein.
We offer full-sized color maps showing every known solar installation in the Dallas / Fort Worth Metroplex as of May, 2015. The maps are available in two sizes: 8.5" by 11" for printing on letter-size paper, and a large map suitable for printing on 18" by 24" paper.
All of these documents are copyrighted. If you use them in any manner, please give credit to the NTREG members who created them. Thank you.
